I bought a bunch of magazines on my recent European adventure (and I plan on writing about them, I really do) but a couple I didn’t buy were these British men’s digests. (Please forgive the blurry iPhone photos.)
As I recall, when the smaller size first migrated to the US in the woman’s sector, the deflated, underpowered and unsatisfying baby versions were described as user-friendly because they were “purse sized.”
Given that, I’m not sure why the format (which didn’t seem to catch on State-side) is now available for a number of British men’s titles—that is unless there’s something about English men that I don’t know.

I think these mini-men formats only turn up on UK airport shelves, intended for consumption with plastic cutlery on a seat-back table. They certainly don’t make it as far as Irish newsstands anyway.

There have been a number of titles available in the smaller format in Germany for some time now. (PC/Computer titles, mens stuff etc).
There seems to be a working niche market for this format, specially around train stations and airports.
